Job Summary:

McLaren Group is seeking a highly skilled CFD R&D Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our High Performance Computing group, you will be responsible for driving the development of CFD tools and methodologies to support our racing team's performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and deliver improvements to CFD methodology and workflows, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and efficiency.
  • Perform advanced CFD R&D activities, including supporting the Aerodynamic Development and HPC teams, to optimize car performance.
  • Develop and champion the use of CFD tools and technologies, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions to drive business value.
  • Collaborate with the HPC, Software, and Development/Analysis teams to ensure seamless integration and effective knowledge sharing.
  • Take ownership of a large codebase, contributing to its maintenance and development to support business objectives.
  • Develop a deep understanding of aerodynamic performance development and CFD contributions to car performance, ensuring effective support and knowledge sharing with the Aerodynamic Development team.

Requirements:

  • Strong mathematical background, with expertise in linear algebra, partial differential equations, and numerical methods.
  • In-depth knowledge of CFD modeling and expertise in at least two areas: CFD solver development, CFD process automation, or CFD applications.
  • Experience in CFD within the context of Aerodynamic development, or experience with data analysis frameworks.
  • Experience with simulations tools/packages in industrial applications, with a preference for OpenFOAM.
  • Strong coding skills in object-oriented programming languages (C++, Python, or others) and version control systems.
  • Experience in planning and organizing technical projects to pre-agreed targets, working collaboratively with other team members.
