Special Educational Needs Tutor

Shefford, Central Bedfordshire, United Kingdom Fleet Tutors Full time
Fleet Tutors is seeking a dedicated KS1-KS2 Tutor to provide personalized, in-person assistance to a young learner with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

About Us

Fleet Tutors is a prominent provider of high-quality supplementary and alternative educational services across the UK. Our commitment to excellence drives us to empower learners, helping them achieve their academic aspirations through tailored one-on-one and small group educational programs, facilitated by our expert tutors who share our mission of ensuring that every learner we support flourishes.

The Role

We have a young learner who requires your expertise to make a significant impact in their educational journey; this is your chance to offer meaningful, holistic support to a student needing additional assistance with primary level subjects. Your skills and knowledge will be instrumental in enhancing their self-esteem and subject comprehension, ultimately becoming a positive influence throughout their educational experience.

This tutoring position will take place in-person, within the learner's home environment. As they are not part of mainstream education, our ideal tutor will aim to provide comprehensive support for core subjects at the KS1-KS2 level, taking into account any potential gaps in the learner's education. Tutoring sessions will be scheduled weekly over three days, requiring 4-5 hours of instruction each day—consistent, regular tutoring throughout the academic year will be essential to ensure this learner's academic progress.

If you are a passionate educator or tutor with experience in supporting learners with SEN and are eager to engage students in their educational journey, we would be delighted to welcome you to our tutoring community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and implement customized lesson plans aimed at engaging, inspiring, and educating.
  • Track your learner's progress and provide constructive feedback to encourage ongoing improvement.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other relevant parties to ensure your learner's academic success.
  • Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and learner performance through our online learning platform.

What We Offer

  • Competitive weekly remuneration through PAYE.
  • Consistent support from our Alternative Provision team, who will engage with your learners to provide valuable insights relevant to their learning needs.
  • Flexibility in your workload; roles that accommodate your existing commitments and availability.
  • Ongoing training opportunities that contribute to your Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and enhance your understanding of working with SEN learners.
  • A dedicated Tuition Consultant who will collaborate closely with you, matching you to opportunities that align with your preferences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or teaching qualification (QTS/QTLS).
  • At least 6 months of teaching or tutoring experience within the UK.
  • Prior experience and a passion for working with learners demonstrating SEN and SEMH learning needs.
  • Thorough knowledge of the national curriculum for Mathematics.
  • A commitment to safeguarding.
  • Must reside and be eligible to work in the UK.
  • Willingness to undergo a full Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and referencing process, as well as subscribing to the DBS Update Service.

Diversity and Inclusion: We Work Together.

Fleet Tutors' mission is to select and support the UK's finest tutors to meet the needs of our clients, placing our people at the core of everything we do. We believe that a diverse and inclusive workforce positively impacts all our learners, and together, we can help them achieve their goals. Therefore, we welcome all applications regardless of religion, age, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability status, or any other aspect that makes you unique.

Applying

In accordance with the statutory guidance Keeping Children Safe In Education (KCSIE), all candidates must successfully pass our rigorous processes to ensure their suitability to work with children and young people before being considered for employment with us. Our privacy policy is available on our website. As part of our due diligence, additional online searches will be conducted on shortlisted candidates. This position is temporary; successful applicants will be classified as agency workers.
