Key Responsibilities:

As a Systems Safety Engineer within the Office of Airworthiness and System Safety Team, part of a CAA Part 21J Design Organisation, your responsibilities will include:
· Performing Qualitative and Quantitative Safety Analyses at both System and Aircraft Levels in accordance with ARP4761 (including FHA, PSSA, FTA, SSA, FMECA, CCA, PRA, CMA, etc.).
· Developing safety requirements for system and sub-system design teams and collaborating to ensure compliance.
· Crafting well-reasoned safety arguments for complex and innovative systems and effectively communicating these to relevant stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Aeronautical Degree or equivalent experience in the aerospace sector.
    · Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity.
    · In-depth knowledge of Aircraft Safety Assessment as per ARP4761 (or equivalent), including FHA, FTA, FMEA, CCA, etc.
    · Familiarity with commercial aerospace certification regulations such as Part 23/ CS-23, Part 33/ CS-E, SC-E-19, etc.
    · Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and ALARP justifications.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Familiarity with Reliability prediction techniques, e.g., MIL-HBK-217F.
    · Understanding of systems development processes following ARP4754 (or equivalent).
    · Knowledge of Software Certification to DO-178B/C or Hardware Certification to DO-254.
    · Experience with safety assurance techniques for new safety-critical products/components.
    · Awareness of airworthiness cyber security assessments per DO-326A.
    · Previous experience as a Part 21J Compliance Verification Engineer for Systems Safety.
    · General experience in a Part 21J Design Organisation environment.
