School Health Assistant/Coordinator

The School Health Assistant/Administrator will provide administrative and practical support to the School Health Service, working closely with the team to deliver health promotion activities and services to schools across the borough.
Key Responsibilities- Administrative Support
- Coordinate communications between schools, the School Health Team, and parents for the delivery of health promotion programs.
- Manage referrals and information received by the service, ensuring accurate and contemporaneous record keeping.
- Support the development of innovative practice within the School Health Team.
- Health Promotion Activities
- Assist in the delivery of health promoting activities, such as growth measurements and health checks, in primary schools across the borough.
- Communicate and interact with children in an age-appropriate way to ensure they feel at ease and understand the activities being completed.
- Identify child safeguarding concerns and take appropriate action as per child safeguarding policy and guidelines.
- Communications and Working Relationships
- Effectively communicate with service users and partners, ensuring reasonable adjustments are identified and made.
- Support the School Health Team in developing effective working relationships with schools and other stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Essential
- An enhanced DBS check
- Travel around the Borough
- Car driver or Bike User with access to a vehicle (Car and Bike schemes are available to employees)
- Occupational health clearance required
- Desirable
- A familiarity with NHS and/or education settings
- Working directly with children
The successful candidate will have:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good written and oral communication skills
- IT skills, including Excel, Word, and databases
- Ability to learn new skills, including IT applications and digital solutions
- Ability to prioritize and plan workload and work to deadlines
- Ability to work under own initiative
- Demonstrate evidence of team working abilities
- Excellent administration skills
- Ability to work with other professionals, voluntary, and statutory agencies
