About the Organization

In collaboration with internal teams, academic institutions, governmental bodies, and partner organizations, the successful candidate will spearhead the formulation and execution of policies across various domains of knowledge exchange.

The term 'knowledge exchange' encompasses the diverse interactions between universities and businesses, public services, charities, and communities aimed at generating societal and economic advantages. These interactions may involve collaborative research and development initiatives, consultancy services, training programs, knowledge transfer partnerships, and the establishment of new enterprises and social ventures.

Role Purpose

The primary objective of this role is to oversee funding distributions and/or funded projects while contributing to policy formulation, particularly through the assimilation of both qualitative and quantitative evidence and the creation of comprehensive reports and briefings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the advancement of knowledge exchange policy and funding, ensuring the integration of policy objectives within operational processes while minimizing institutional burdens and monitoring requirements.
  • Support the preparation of evidence for Spending Reviews, utilizing both qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Address inquiries from governmental entities, including updates on evolving policy priorities and routine knowledge exchange policy activities.
  • Take responsibility for evaluating evidence and analysis to guide research, evaluation, and monitoring of knowledge exchange policies, including aiding in the procurement and management of external projects and suppliers as necessary.
  • Engage in projects as they emerge to align with new knowledge exchange policy priorities and other relevant Research England initiatives.

Generic Responsibilities

  • Foster and maintain effective relationships with universities and other external organizations.
  • Utilize accurate qualitative and quantitative data in policy development.
  • Manage internal projects, which may involve coordinating with external groups and/or employing consultants for specific components of the reform program.
  • Represent Research England at external engagements and deliver presentations to various audiences.
  • Prepare initial drafts of Research England Board papers and related documents.

Candidate Profile

Essential Criteria

  • Experience in a higher education or research-focused organization.
  • Background in policy development within the higher education sector.
  • Proven interest in enhancing knowledge of the higher education landscape in which UKRI operates.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team, organizing and leading initiatives effectively.
  • Strong writing skills, capable of producing clear and precise correspondence tailored to the audience and adhering to organizational style guidelines.
  • Confident communicator, able to establish effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Exhibit a creative, adaptable, and positive approach to problem-solving.

Benefits
