We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Trainee Advanced Practitioner in the Fracture Clinic at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.
Job OverviewThis is an exciting opportunity for a committed and dedicated individual to embark on a 3-4 year Master's degree in Advanced Clinical Practice at a local University, with funding provided. The post will involve working as a Trainee Trauma Advanced Clinical Practitioner (TACP), providing expert advice to the Emergency Department, and undertaking a period of full or partial supervised practice to support the completion of clinical competencies relevant to the Band 6 role.
Main Duties- Virtual Review of Referrals: Safely review patients referred from the Emergency Department, GP surgeries, or other healthcare providers, and make independent decisions regarding plans of care.
- Urgent Review of Patients: Assess, examine, diagnose, and implement management of patients' care at initial presentation.
- Outpatient Clinic Appointments: Safely assess, examine, diagnose, and implement management of patients' care in outpatient clinic appointments.
- Work collaboratively with nursing and allied healthcare professionals to undertake advanced clinical practice.
- Observe advanced practices and work fully supervised until assessed as competent.
- Manage own patient load autonomously in a ward-based or clinic environment.
- Registration on the relevant part of the register with the NMC or HCPC with no restrictions on practice.
- Possess a first degree in a health-related subject and/or completion of clinically based level 7 (Masters) module(s).
- Able to meet University apprenticeship programme criteria.
- Postgraduate management/leadership qualification or willingness to undertake IT qualification.
- Counselling qualification.
- Possess or working towards Independent Non-Medical Prescribing (V300).
- Evidence of coaching/facilitation skills.
- Evidence of involvement in policy and protocol development and implementation.
- Experience of dealing with adult and child safeguarding issues and assessing mental capacity.
The post will have a primary location but may extend and influence across UHL, including the trauma wards and adult inpatient wards. The successful candidate will be required to work at all times under an appropriate level of supervision as part of the training programme.
