About the Role:

The Rent and Service Charge Manager will be responsible for leading a team in setting and reviewing rents and service charges in a social housing setting. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in rent and service charge setting in a social housing environment, ideally within supported housing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Rent and Service Charge Setting: Develop and maintain a clear methodology for rent and service charge setting, ensuring that all charges are backed up with evidence and aligned with budgets.
  • Leadership: Manage the Service Charge Officers and lead the Rent Setting team, guiding them to ensure timely and compliant rent reviews and processes.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all rent and service charges comply with regulatory requirements, and work to ensure charges are recoverable via Housing Benefit.
  • Stakeholder Management: Coordinate with Local Authorities, internal teams, and external managing agent RSL partnerships to ensure smooth rent-setting operations.
  • Problem Solving and Dispute Resolution: Act as the lead for disputes with Local Authorities and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Data Analysis: Conduct high-level analysis of budget spending against charge recovery and contribute to reforecasting and annual rent increases.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously review and improve rent setting processes and policies.
