Role Responsibilities

This position is accountable for managing the execution of the annual talent cycle within the Cabinet Office. The scope includes talent management across all levels and grades (from AO to DG). Key responsibilities encompass:

  • Acting as a deputy to the Head of Talent.
  • Overseeing the daily operations of various talent programs, including those for Directors and the graduate scheme, while supporting two HEOs in managing these initiatives effectively.
  • Ensuring timely execution of programs and maximizing their value within the organization.
  • Facilitating broader talent initiatives, such as integrating career development discussions and managing essential talent frameworks like Director Talent Forums and Heads of Professions Group.
  • Building strong relationships and collaborating across the HR team on cross-functional matters, including pay, onboarding, apprenticeships, HR Business Partnering, and performance management.
  • Establishing trust and credibility with senior stakeholders, supported by the G7 Head of Talent.
  • Delivering high-quality services across various operational talent activities, prioritizing customer satisfaction.
  • Handling sensitive information with precision, assisting the G7 in advising senior leaders, preparing meeting materials, and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Serving as an escalation point for inquiries and providing guidance as needed.
  • Collaborating with external partners to guarantee high-quality service delivery.
  • Utilizing professional expertise to creatively support the development of in-house talent and career management programs.
  • Confidently presenting training sessions for managers and employees regarding talent development activities.
  • Managing the talent budget and financial aspects related to talent programs.
  • Being a supportive and credible line manager, fostering team capability and career growth.
  • Engaging in strategic talent initiatives, including contributing to the development of a new departmental talent strategy.
  • Effectively prioritizing tasks and adapting plans to accommodate emerging priorities.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality services in a complex organization, managing multiple demands and stakeholders.

  • Experience in maintaining meticulous records and ensuring data integrity.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in leading teams or projects to achieve high-quality outcomes, motivating team members and ensuring clarity in objectives.

  • Prior line management experience is required.
  • A minimum qualification or a commitment to pursue one is necessary.

Additional Information:

Employees are expected to maintain a minimum of 60% of their working time at their primary workplace. Occasional travel may be required for in-person meetings and forums.
