Purpose of Red Tractor Assurance's Head of Communications and Stakeholder Engagement
To be a key stakeholder in driving Red Tractor Assurance's credibility as a world-leader in food chain assurance using our standards, independent assessment and consumer recognition as proof points.
The Head of Communications and Stakeholder Engagement has the critical role of providing oversight and ensuring consistent messaging across all stakeholders that Red Tractor Assurance interacts with from farm to fork.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively lead and manage the development and execution of Red Tractor Assurance's communications and stakeholder engagement strategies, to drive up understanding and to defend, protect and enhance the reputation of Red Tractor Assurance.
- Lead, develop and support the communications team to act as the guardian of Red Tractor Assurance messaging to consumers, stakeholders and the food and farming sector, ensuring its relevance, consistency, and the simplification of technical issues.
- Deliver compelling and evidence-based communications across a wide spectrum of issues and a range of channels.
- Review Red Tractor Assurance's public communication and presence across the sector and communications platforms – including what Red Tractor Assurance is communicating and how it is being communicated.
- Create a compelling public image of, and narrative for, Red Tractor Assurance, which draws our audience in, creating and communicating positive content.
- Develop and roll-out creative, compelling campaigns across a range of media platforms on issues critical to Red Tractor Assurance, to win the best outcome we can in which our stakeholders and the sector can thrive.
Requirements
- Be an excellent communicator and creative thinker, with an ability to use both data and intuition to inform decisions.
- Be an experienced manager with evidence of developing and operating a successful and motivated communications team.
- Have strong interpersonal skills, executive presence and credibility to build and maintain a wide range of stakeholder relationships.
- Have the ability to operate with poise under pressure, including in public. Be able to work to tight deadlines.
- Ideally have a network of contacts within the food sector, and with key farming and consumer media.
- Be a communications practitioner with the ability to counsel senior executives on crisis communications.
- Have strong project and brand management experience, analytical, planning and influencing skills alongside an awareness of key UK farming policy.
- Be a team player able to work with multiple business functions, to deliver communications for multiple audiences- consumers, farmers, food businesses and influencers.
- Be able to work with key stakeholders and food businesses to deliver positive messages about the benefits of assurance to stakeholders and the British food and farming.
