Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified MOT Tester to enhance our operations at Oak Tyres UK Ltd, a leader in the fast-fit industry.

Founded in 1980, our family-run business has expanded significantly, employing around 350 individuals and achieving a turnover exceeding £180 million.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting class IV vehicle inspections following the established guidelines set by the vehicle inspectorate.
  • Completing all necessary documentation related to vehicle inspections and submitting required reports to the inspectorate.
  • Identifying faults and necessary repairs in line with company standards.
  • Communicating clearly with customers regarding required and advisory work, ensuring they understand the reasons behind each recommendation.
  • Removing and refitting components that need repair, ensuring they are securely and correctly installed.
  • Performing tyre adjustments according to technical standards and personal competencies.
  • Assisting the Depot Manager in maintaining compliance with maintenance programs and calibrations as mandated by the Ministry.
  • Regularly inspecting tools and equipment to ensure they are suitable for conducting MOT inspections.
  • Supporting other technical tasks, such as servicing vehicles, brakes, suspension, exhaust systems, and tyre fitting when not engaged in MOT testing.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A valid Class 4 MOT Testing Licence.
  • Knowledge of wheel alignment procedures, tyre issues, fitting techniques, exhaust systems, suspension, and brakes.
  • A reliable track record of attendance and punctuality.
  • Proof of the right to work in the U.K.
  • The ability to maintain composure under pressure.
  • A hardworking attitude with a flexible, proactive approach.

Please note that the company conducts regular drug and alcohol testing, including pre-employment screenings.

Job Type

This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive salary of £32,000.00 per year.

Schedule

Work hours include:

  • Day shifts, with no Sunday hours or bank holidays, working 5.5 days a week.
