Position Overview

We invite applications from both paediatric and adult trained nursing professionals.

The individual in this role will be tasked with executing a variety of responsibilities that encompass both direct and indirect patient care, adhering to established protocols. This position requires providing leadership, mentorship, and support while serving as a role model. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures, guaranteeing that the nursing staff within the Emergency Department (ED) meet the standards set forth by the organization.

The role includes supporting the Senior Nurse in delivering line management, clinical guidance, and professional leadership, ensuring that the highest quality of nursing care is provided to patients in the ED.

The individual will hold ongoing accountability for the management and delivery of a highly specialized service.

Additionally, they will assist the Senior Nurse in developing systems and processes to monitor:

  1. Quality of adherence to organizational policies and clinical standards.

The post holder will optimize the performance of all nursing personnel within the ED, establishing effective structures for supervision and direction. They will lead audits for the Emergency Department, presenting audit findings and reports to the broader multidisciplinary teams.

Main Responsibilities

Band 7 - Lead Nurse - Emergency Services

The Emergency Services unit is a dynamic environment within a large healthcare facility, featuring a dedicated paediatric unit, minor injuries unit, majors unit, and areas for adult and paediatric resuscitation.

We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to deliver high-quality service and evidence-based clinical care to our patient population while fostering a positive learning atmosphere for all staff.

The ideal candidate will possess a clear vision for best practices and demonstrate complex decision-making capabilities.

Proficiency in the Welsh language is desirable; however, candidates who speak either Welsh or English are encouraged to apply.

Experience Requirements

Essential

  • Extensive experience in Emergency nursing.
  • Proven ability to manage a team of staff.
  • Capability to conduct and interpret audits, taking appropriate action.
  • Experience in change management.
  • Understanding of the significance of clinical governance.
  • Effective teaching, supervisory, and leadership skills.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of staff rostering and allocation.

Knowledge and Training Requirements

Essential

  • Fully trained and competent in the use of the Manchester Triage System.
  • Leadership/Management qualification or equivalent skills, knowledge, and experience.
  • Ability to produce written and verbal reports relevant to the position.
  • Extensive clinical knowledge and skills.

Desirable

  • TNCC or equivalent certification.
  • ALS/ePALS certification.
