Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Headteacher to join our leadership team at Aintree Primary School. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will play a vital role in driving school improvement and ensuring the highest standards of teaching, learning, and behaviour across the school.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Whole-School Development: Work closely with the Headteacher to lead whole-school development, implementing strategies to raise outcomes for all pupils, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds and with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Staff Leadership: Inspire and motivate staff, leading by example and managing teams effectively to ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and behaviour.
  • Classroom Practice: Demonstrate outstanding classroom practice across EYFS, KS1, and KS2, ensuring that all pupils are supported to reach their full potential.
  • Teacher Development: Support and challenge colleagues to improve, driving forward high-quality teaching through robust school-wide systems, effective coaching, and professional development.
  • Curriculum Development: Work collaboratively with the Headteacher to develop and monitor a curriculum that is both engaging and challenging, ensuring that it meets the needs of all learners and supports their academic and personal growth.
  • Pupil and Staff Relationships: Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and the wider community, fostering a welcoming and inclusive school culture.
  • Attendance and Behaviour: Take a lead role in promoting excellent attendance and behaviour across the school, ensuring that high expectations are consistently maintained.
  • Inclusion and SEND: Champion inclusion and SEND provision, valuing each child's unique strengths and ensuring that vulnerable groups receive the support they need to succeed.
  • Leadership and Vision: Be ambitious for the school's future, sharing in a vision that prioritises the success and well-being of every learner.
Essential Requirements:
  • Leadership Experience: Proven experience as a school leader, with a successful track record in driving whole-school improvement.
  • Outcomes and SEND: Demonstrable experience in raising outcomes for children, including those who are disadvantaged or have SEND.
  • Leadership and Management: Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and lead others effectively.
  • Classroom Practice: Excellent classroom practice, with a deep understanding of teaching and learning across all primary phases (EYFS, KS1, and KS2).
  • Passion for Education: Passionate about education, with the drive and ability to support and challenge colleagues to achieve continuous improvement.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all members of the school community.
  • Curriculum and Monitoring: A commitment to delivering a broad, balanced, and engaging curriculum, alongside rigorous monitoring to ensure high standards across all classes.
  • Collaboration and Inclusion: A collaborative approach, working in close partnership with the Headteacher to realise a shared vision for our school.
  • Inclusion and SEND Provision: A strong commitment to inclusion, with the skills to lead SEND provision and support vulnerable groups effectively.
