Recreation Operations Supervisor
Compensation:
£25,500 - £27,500 annually (based on qualifications and experience)

As a Recreation Operations Supervisor, you will collaborate with a dedicated team to oversee the management and functionality of the prestigious School of Science and Sports Facilities, which commenced operations in 2020.

Your primary responsibility will be to maintain the facilities to the highest standards while ensuring that outstanding customer service is consistently provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guarantee sufficient lifeguarding during swimming pool activities.
  • Perform daily cleaning tasks to uphold exceptional presentation standards, in coordination with the Cleaning team.
  • Coordinate with the school’s facilities, grounds, and cleaning departments to ensure effective maintenance and cleanliness of the premises.
  • Ensure timely opening and closing of the facility.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the building to verify cleanliness and safe usage of amenities.
  • Manage and operate the swimming pool equipment in accordance with the Operating Manuals to ensure proper chemical dosing for water quality maintenance.
  • Monitor the safe and efficient operation of the swimming pool through bacteriological and chemical assessments, back-washing, and equipment monitoring.
  • Ensure routine maintenance, inspections, and checks of machinery and equipment are conducted (by others, where applicable), working closely with the Head of Sport and Science Facilities.
  • Assist in supervising contractors regarding health and safety, safeguarding, access, and compliance documentation.
  • Familiarize yourself with the College's Health & Safety Policy and its application across all site facilities.
  • Fulfill any other reasonable management requests.

Customer Service Orientation:

  • Exhibit flexibility and adaptability to program changes as necessary.
  • Adhere to Brighton College's Policies and Procedures.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) (if not already held, the successful candidate will need to obtain this during the probationary period and pass a swimming test during the interview).
  • Experience in a leisure setting with a swimming pool.
  • Training in areas such as Pool Plant Operation, First Aid, Manual Handling, COSHH, and Child Protection.

Swimming Test Requirements:

  • Jump or dive into deep water.
  • Swim 100 meters continuously on both front and back in deep water.
  • Tread water for 30 seconds.
  • Perform a surface dive to the bottom of the pool.

This position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, distributed over seven days, including early, late, and weekend shifts. The Duty Manager will be expected to cover one weekend every three weeks. Overtime may be necessary with the approval of the Head of Sport and Science Facilities.
