Job Description

**Job Purpose**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Buyer to join our team at Superdrug, responsible for procuring and managing our food and drink products. As a key member of our buying team, you will play a crucial role in driving sales and profitability across our beverage and food categories.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Develop and implement category plans to drive sales and profitability, including range reviews, promotions, pricing, and stock management.
  • Collaborate with our Marketing team to develop and implement marketing promotion plans and strategies that align with our commercial objectives.
  • Ensure adherence to legislation and brand guidelines, and effectively communicate with our customers to drive footfall and profitable sales.
  • Work closely with our Merchandising team to agree merchandising strategies that drive and deliver the right range in the right store, ensuring availability and control of slow-moving stock.
  • Identify and implement new product opportunities that are competitively priced, commercially viable, and meet customer needs.
  • Manage and review pricing to ensure profitability, operating within our company pricing strategy.
  • Work with our Supply Chain team to ensure base sales and promotional forecasts are met, while maintaining in-store availability.
  • Develop effective internal working relationships with cross-functional team members to support and enhance category objectives and performance.
  • Develop and maintain effective external relationships to enhance our proposition and meet customer needs.
  • Adept negotiation strategies to attain the best terms for the category and the business.
  • Continually develop expert knowledge in category products, competitors, and market activity to deliver increased category performance objectives.

  • Experience in the food and drink categories is desired.
  • Commercially sound with excellent ability to understand and interpret market information.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate at all levels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills: written and verbal, including presentations.
