Job Overview:

The Electrical Superintendent is a pivotal leadership position tasked with managing and directing all electrical construction operations on-site. This role encompasses the oversight of a team of electrical supervisors and electricians, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently, within budget constraints, and adhere to the highest standards of safety and quality. The Electrical Superintendent will also be instrumental in workforce development, emphasizing training and professional advancement to elevate the team's skill set.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Planning and Coordination:
    • Strategically plan, schedule, and coordinate electrical work activities to ensure seamless workflow.
    • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other trade supervisors to synchronize electrical tasks with overall project timelines.
    • Create comprehensive work plans and assign tasks to supervisors and electricians.
    • Ensure the availability of all necessary materials, tools, and equipment to meet project deadlines.
  • Team Management:
    • Lead and oversee a team of electrical supervisors and electricians, providing clear guidance and support.
    • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate project objectives, expectations, and any modifications to the work plan.
    • Monitor team performance, offering feedback and coaching to maintain high productivity and quality workmanship.
    • Address any on-site issues or conflicts, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable health and safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
    • Conduct routine safety audits and inspections, promptly addressing any non-compliance issues.
    • Promote a robust safety culture on-site, leading by example and ensuring adherence to safety protocols by all team members.
    • Coordinate with safety officers to implement site-specific safety plans and procedures.
  • Quality Control:
    • Ensure all electrical installations meet required quality standards and specifications.
    • Perform regular inspections to verify work quality and address any issues without delay.
    • Collaborate closely with the quality control team to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
    • Implement corrective measures when necessary to rectify deviations from the project plan.
  • Workforce Development:
    • Identify training and development needs within the team and coordinate relevant training initiatives.
    • Mentor and support the professional growth of supervisors and electricians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
    • Collaborate with HR to develop career progression pathways for the electrical workforce.
    • Encourage the adoption of innovative technologies and techniques to enhance team capabilities.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    • Prepare and submit regular progress reports to the Project Manager, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and upcoming milestones.
    • Maintain accurate records of work activities, including timesheets, material usage, and safety inspections.
    • Assist in preparing risk assessments, method statements, and other necessary documentation.

Qualifications:
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
  • 2391 Inspection and Testing certification (or equivalent).
  • ECS Gold Card holder.
  • IPAF 3a/3b certification.
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in SharePoint and Excel.
  • First Aid at Work certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a supervisory role within the electrical construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable:
  • HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • First Aid at Work certification.
  • Experience with modern construction management software.

Working Conditions:
  • The role is primarily site-based with regular visits to various project locations.
  • Flexibility in working hours may be required to meet project deadlines.

Salary: £ ph / PAYE
