Job Overview:

The Electrical Superintendent plays a pivotal leadership role in managing and coordinating all electrical construction activities on-site. This position entails overseeing a team of electrical supervisors and electricians, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently, within budget, and adhering to the highest safety and quality standards. The Electrical Superintendent is also instrumental in workforce development, emphasizing training and professional growth to enhance team capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Planning and Coordination:
    • Strategically plan, schedule, and coordinate electrical work activities to ensure optimal workflow.
    • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other trade supervisors to synchronize electrical work with overall project timelines.
    • Develop comprehensive work plans and assign tasks to supervisors and electricians.
    • Ensure the availability of all materials, tools, and equipment to meet project deadlines.
  • Team Management:
    • Lead and oversee a team of electrical supervisors and electricians, providing clear guidance and support.
    • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate project objectives, expectations, and any updates to the work plan.
    • Monitor team performance, offering feedback and coaching to maintain high productivity and quality workmanship.
    • Address any on-site issues or conflicts, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure all electrical work adheres to relevant health and safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
    • Conduct routine safety audits and inspections, promptly addressing any non-compliance.
    • Promote a robust safety culture on-site, leading by example and ensuring all team members follow safety protocols.
    • Coordinate with safety officers to implement site-specific safety plans and procedures.
  • Quality Control:
    • Ensure all electrical installations comply with the required quality standards and specifications.
    • Conduct regular inspections to verify work quality and address any issues promptly.
    • Collaborate closely with the quality control team to ensure adherence to project specifications and standards.
    • Implement corrective actions as necessary to rectify any deviations from the project plan.
  • Workforce Development:
    • Identify training and development needs within the team and coordinate relevant training programs.
    • Mentor and support the professional growth of supervisors and electricians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
    • Collaborate with HR to develop career progression pathways for the electrical workforce.
    • Encourage the adoption of new technologies and techniques to enhance team capabilities.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    • Prepare and submit regular progress reports to the Project Manager, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and upcoming milestones.
    • Maintain accurate records of work activities, including timesheets, material usage, and safety inspections.
    • Assist in preparing risk assessments, method statements, and other necessary documentation.

Qualifications:
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
  • 2391 Inspection and Testing certification (or equivalent).
  • ECS Gold Card holder.
  • IPAF 3a/3b certification.
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in SharePoint and Excel.
  • First Aid at Work certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a supervisory role within the electrical construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable:
  • HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • First Aid at Work certification.
  • Experience with modern construction management software.

Working Conditions:
  • The role is primarily site-based with regular visits to various project locations.
  • Flexibility in working hours may be required to meet project deadlines.

Salary: £ ph / PAYE
