Special Needs Classroom Support Graduate Role

Teaching Personnel, in partnership with a specialist SEN school in Bolton, is offering an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Special Needs Classroom Support to join our dedicated team. This role is perfect for recent psychology graduates eager to specialise in Special Educational Needs (SEN) and gain invaluable experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialised support to students with a range of SEN, including autism, ADHD, and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), adapting your approach to meet their unique needs.
  • Assist with personal care and manage challenging behaviours that may arise due to students' different perspectives of the world, employing positive behaviour strategies to create a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Address sensory needs and support the use of alternative communication devices, such as PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and other assistive technologies, to facilitate effective communication and learning.
Requirements:
  • Eligibility: All candidates must have the right to work in the UK and be currently based in Manchester.
  • Educational Requirements: A minimum of 5 GCSEs, including English and Maths, is required.
  • Psychology Background: A recent psychology graduate or someone with relevant experience. Previous experience working with children is essential, while experience with SEN is highly desirable.
  • Key Attributes: You should be empathetic, patient, and committed to understanding and supporting children with diverse SEN needs. A genuine interest in the unique challenges these students face is crucial.
  • Safeguarding Commitment: A strong dedication to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students is necessary.
