EHC Needs Assessment Coordinator
Location: Buckinghamshire, County Wide
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated professional to assist families, children, and young individuals alongside educational institutions throughout the Education Health and Care Needs Assessment and Annual Review Process.
Being part of a supportive team that collaborates effectively can be both challenging and fulfilling. Our environment encourages personal growth and career advancement.
Opportunities Available
We are pleased to present various secondment and fixed-term contract roles for a duration of up to 9 months, targeted at professionals who are passionate about making a positive impact. Positions are available at grade 6 in our Aylesbury and Wycombe offices, with a hybrid working model (3 days remote work).
About Buckinghamshire Council
Buckinghamshire Council is a newly formed entity that merges the strengths and expertise of the previous five councils in the region to foster positive changes for local residents, communities, and businesses. Our commitment is to enhance service delivery and representation for Buckinghamshire at both local and national levels.
Our Integrated SEND Service is dedicated to supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) residing in Buckinghamshire, ensuring they achieve optimal outcomes.
Our Vision:
- Enable children to reach their highest potential.
- Facilitate attendance at educational settings close to home.
- Ensure skilled professionals provide support with high expectations for progress and learning.
- Foster an enjoyable learning environment where children feel valued and confident.
- Encourage active participation in decisions affecting their lives.
- Support their development into confident adults within their communities.
Role Responsibilities
In this position, you will adopt a child-centered approach to coordinating EHC needs assessments, establishing strong connections with children, families, and various professionals. You will collaborate closely with families to develop effective EHC Plans that highlight the strengths and needs of each child or young person, ensuring they have every opportunity to flourish and meet their aspirations.
Effective planning is essential to guarantee that annual reviews are conducted and updated, and that correspondence from parents, educational settings, and other stakeholders is addressed promptly.
Our team is committed to placing children and young people at the core of our efforts. While the work can be demanding, we pride ourselves on offering a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
Additional Information
As an 'any-desk' worker, you will need to connect to our network to access digital resources, which can be done from home or an office as required. Office attendance may be necessary a few times a week, depending on your role and team needs.
Candidate Profile
To excel in this role, you should possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to build strong relationships with families and professionals to achieve the best outcomes for the children you support. Organizational and problem-solving abilities are crucial, as you will be assisting in the leadership of a dynamic and committed integrated SEND service.
A background in SEND, along with familiarity with the statutory processes outlined in the SEND Code of Practice (2015), the Children and Families Act (2014), and the Equality Act, is highly desirable.
