Job Summary

The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a motivated and organized Band 4 Therapy Technician to join our team on the adult inpatient wards. As a key member of our therapy team, you will assist in the delivery of therapy services by supporting Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in the assessment and treatment of highly complex patients.

Main Duties
  • Assist in the delivery of therapy services by supporting Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in the assessment and treatment of highly complex patients.
  • Independently treat patients post-operatively on the short-stay ward and support our patient pathways.
  • Provide appropriate therapeutic interventions to patients referred by therapists and progress these treatments as part of your own patient caseload.
  • Independently assess patients prior to day case procedures and facilitate therapy discharge pre-operatively where appropriate.
  • Promote a rehab ethos on the ward by encouraging patients to dress in day clothing, independent washing and dressing, walking to the toilet, and sitting out for meals.
  • Monitor and order specialist equipment and materials required by the inpatient therapy teams, liaising with suppliers and therapists to ensure cost and efficiency measures are considered.

Requirements
  • Previous experience of working with people with an injury or disability and an understanding of the role of an Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist.
  • Physical fitness, as the post involves moving and handling of patients and equipment.
Person Specification
  • Good general level of education up to GCSE Equivalent (Minimum GCSE Maths/English or equivalent).
  • Evidence of further education in sports, exercise, anatomy, physiology, exercise conditioning, or health and social care.
  • Experience of working directly with people in a hospital, fitness, or leisure environment.
  • Experience of delivering exercise or health educational programs with an adult population.
  • Experience working directly with a wide range of adults.
  • Basic project management experience.
