Occupational Therapy Assistant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Occupational Therapy team at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust.
Main DutiesThe successful candidate will provide clinical and technical support to our team of Occupational Therapists, assisting with the rehabilitation of adults and children admitted to the Spinal Injuries Unit.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing guided hands-on therapy and assisting with the teaching and supervision of exercises and functional activities
- Organizing and maintaining stocks of specialist equipment, including wheelchairs, and ensuring equipment is cleaned according to RNOH infection control guidelines
- Assisting with the supply of patients requiring walking aids and equipment, and instructing patients on their safe use
- Participating in regular supervision and contributing to the smooth running of the department

Person SpecificationWe are looking for a candidate with:
- Basic written and spoken English
- Basic numeracy
- Education to secondary school level or equivalent GCSE in English and Mathematics
- Experience of working in a team and with customers/clients
- Ability to communicate effectively and work flexibly to meet the needs of the service
