About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an Operational Technology Technical Specialist to join the SSE Transmission Operational Technology team. Working as part of the Technology Systems team (SysOps), you will be responsible for helping deliver projects, enhancements and upgrades of our key OT systems. This contributes to Transmission successfully completing their plans for the RII0-T2 period.
You will also work closely with the Technology Operations team (TechOps) to help proactively monitor, maintain and improve the reliability of our OT systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Help introduce new technologies, deliver detailed proof of concepts, research developing industry trends and recommend strategic improvements.
- Work closely with the Transmission Control Centre to help them develop, enhance and simulate their control system.
- You will be involved in the Cyber Security Transmission OT systems, by actively monitoring and reviewing the health and security of these systems. This will include participating in Cyber Response Activities (both actual and mock).
- Assist the TechOps team in investigating and resolving faults. This may lead to being part of a 24-hour standby rota.
Requirements
- To be curious about understanding complex systems and how to monitor, enhance and improve them.
- Degree level (or equivalent) qualification in a Computing, Engineering or Science based discipline or relevant practical experience in one of these areas.
- Ideally you'll have experience in scripting, server management, and databases as well as GE PowerOn and AVEVA PI, although training will be provided.
- Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a small team is fundamental to this role.
- Ideally you'll have a full, current driving licence, although this is not essential it will be required if you become part of the out of hours support rota.
- Candidates for this role will be required to obtain vetting to SC level through UK Government.
