Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our team at Egger, a leading wood recycler. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining our plant equipment, ensuring efficient and cost-effective operations, and overseeing routine maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all plant and equipment on site is maintained, providing recommendations for increasing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Liaise with the Operations Manager to discuss equipment condition and production problems, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Act as the first point of contact for repairs and maintenance work on site, arranging and monitoring quality and safety.
  • Carry out routine maintenance on plant and equipment.
  • Manage external service providers and contractors, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
  • Support the planning, installation, and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Ensure all maintenance and related tasks are conducted in a safe working manner, reporting incidents and hazards.
  • Assist in planning and developing site infrastructure.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy maintenance workshop and stores, contributing to a high level of housekeeping on site.
  • Assist with maintenance work at other Egger locations, as required.

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Fabrication experience, including various welding techniques such as MIG and Arc, with a coded welder qualification an advantage.
  • FLT Licence, with training provided if necessary.
  • Supervisory experience or experience managing external contractors.
  • Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Intermediate standard of IT skills and competent use of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Good communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Well-organized and efficient.
