Evening Trading Team Leader

Midlothian, United Kingdom Sainsbury's Full time

Overview

Working during the night shift is where the essential operations take place. Deliveries arrive, shelves are replenished, and everything must be prepared for the day ahead. This role is an excellent opportunity to either kickstart or advance your career in retail management, equipping you with the necessary skills for success.

Your Responsibilities

As the leader of the overnight team, you will oversee the in-store activities during your shift. Comprehensive training will empower you to effectively manage your team, allocate resources, and ensure customer satisfaction.

Your team will be responsible for restocking shelves, processing warehouse deliveries, and assisting with online order fulfillment overnight. It will be your duty to ensure that all items are in their designated places for your colleagues and customers in the morning. Your focus will be on operational management, ensuring a seamless shift, managing team performance, and fostering an organized and inclusive environment.

We understand that night shifts may not be suitable for everyone; therefore, an additional annual premium of up to £4,500 is available for eligible night shift management positions.

During your shift, you will be accountable for ensuring everything runs smoothly. In collaboration with fellow managers, you will plan shift schedules and activities in advance. At the end of your shift, a thorough handover to the next manager will be essential.

Who You Are

This position is a fantastic way to embark on your management journey in retail or to refine your existing skills. Our customers are always seeking that extra touch in-store, and your ability to guide, motivate, and inspire your team will be crucial in achieving this.

Our management structure ensures a strong presence throughout all operating hours, allowing customers and colleagues to seek assistance or propose solutions when challenges arise. Ultimately, you will be responsible for enhancing the overall shopping experience.

Opportunities for Development

Upon joining our team, you will receive a structured induction and orientation, along with a tailored training plan that you will develop with your manager. They will support and coach you to achieve outstanding performance while allowing ample time for personal growth.

Numerous opportunities exist for you to expand and enhance your skills, so feel free to express your readiness to take on more responsibilities. Remember, you will be part of a supportive community, ensuring you always have options for advancement.

What We Offer

Your salary will be determined by your experience, as well as the complexity and size of the store. In addition, we provide a comprehensive range of benefits for our managers, including:

  • Night shift premium - up to £4,500 annually for eligible night work
  • 4-night work week - full-time night shift managers complete their hours over 4 nights
  • Discount card – 10% off shopping at Sainsbury's, Argos, Tu, and Habitat after four weeks, increasing to 15% on Fridays and Saturdays at Sainsbury's and 15% off at Argos every payday
  • Complimentary food and hot beverages for colleagues in all stores
  • Generous holiday entitlement, maternity, and paternity leave
  • Pension – we match 4-7% of your contributions
  • Sainsbury's share scheme – build an investment at discounted rates
  • Wellbeing support – access to emotional support, counseling, legal, and financial advice
