Research Associate in Artificial Intelligence Assisted Search, Synthesis, and Characterisation of Two-Dimensional Materials

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to join our Condensed Matter Physics Group at The University of Manchester. The successful candidate will work on a range of projects related to using machine learning to search for new van der Waals materials and their synthesis routes.

The role will involve searching for novel van der Waals materials with desired properties, based on calculated electronic band structures of 2D materials available in various databases and literature. You will also explore synthesis pathways based on search and understanding of scientific data using AI.

We are looking for an individual with a strong background in condensed matter physics, AI, or a related field, and significant experience in machine learning and programming. Proven proficiency in writing quality research papers is essential. The ideal candidate will be well-organised, self-motivated, and have excellent communication skills.

The projects are expected to lead to high-impact scientific publications and datasets, technological developments, and a boost in the career of the research associate.
