Position Overview

We are pleased to announce a remarkable opportunity to become a part of our esteemed Acute Oncology Nursing service, operational throughout the week. Our dedicated team offers specialized guidance and support to individuals facing complications related to cancer or its treatment, whether they are visiting the emergency department, admitted to our facilities, or receiving care at home through our telephone triage service. We serve as a crucial connection between patients and healthcare professionals within our organization, as well as with the Oncology center.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide expert support and guidance to patients diagnosed with Cancer of unknown primary, acting as their primary contact. This role involves overseeing and coordinating services while tailoring the cancer care pathway for these patients from the initial diagnosis through to aftercare.

We seek an innovative and proactive nurse who is deeply committed to enhancing practices within our rapidly evolving Acute Oncology Service.

Essential

  • Significant post-registration experience, including a Band 6 role
  • Experience in an Oncology environment
  • Proven ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Specialized knowledge supported by both theory and practical experience
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring
  • Flexibility to meet the demands of the role with good attendance
  • Methodical and precise in work practices, capable of working independently
  • Resourceful and able to operate autonomously
  • Strong delegation skills
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and take appropriate actions

Desirable

  • Experience in an Acute Oncology setting
  • Background in leading service development and operational management

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • First level Registered Nurse with current registration
  • Up-to-date knowledge of professional issues
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification or willingness to obtain
  • Evidence of mandatory training updates
  • APACS qualification or willingness to pursue

Desirable

  • Teaching and Assessing qualifications
  • Certificate in Acute Oncology
