Job Description

As a Junior Merchandiser at JD Group, you will play a key role in driving sales and defining the strategy and planning of future ranges. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities
  • Reviewing previous seasons and producing SWOT analyses with supporting information.
  • Creating category-level product mixes using history, SWOT, and SMT plans.
  • Formulating space and grading plans for store distribution with the Senior Merchandiser.
  • Ensuring that the WSSI is updated with the buy plan and KPIs are signed off with the Senior Merchandiser.
  • Managing scheduling and Ideals for your area of responsibility.
  • Attending key selection meetings with the Senior Merchandiser and Buyer.
  • Building range plans and layout plans in conjunction with buying and VM.
  • Overseeing ratios for all buys in conjunction with Assistant Merchandisers.
  • Ensuring that the buy matches the plan buy.
  • Establishing working relationships with supplier bases.
  • Managing order books and stock seasonality within the WSSI.
Trading
  • Reviewing weekly trading performance and achieved KPIs, identifying issues and courses of action for weekly trading meetings.
  • Proposing and agreeing actions to recover risk and maximize opportunities with the Senior Merchandiser and Buyer at category and line level.
  • Capturing agreed actions in monthly forecast reviews.
  • Working up forecasts from category/season level to Buyer Group.
  • Meeting and gaining approval for forecasting sales variance to plan, creating OTBs, managing commitments, and markdown proposals.
  • Providing Retail with rack lists/hit lists through Merchandise Assistants.
  • Managing range plans in season, reflecting any changes.
  • Managing linecards and intake at category and line level.
  • Visiting and understanding store bases on a regular basis, creating action plans to optimize store performance.
  • Managing store option plans to ensure each store has the optimum amount of stock and neither too full nor lacking key lines.
Teamwork
  • Reporting to the Senior Merchandiser.
  • Working with the Senior Merchandiser and Buyer to deliver the plan.
  • Guiding and directing the Merchandising Team to help deliver the plan.
  • Providing and monitoring development plans for Assistant Merchandisers/Merchandise Assistants on a regular basis.
  • Communicating to the Retail Team anything that will impact store performance.
  • Establishing working relationships with Store Operations, Visuals, Marketing, Finance, DC, etc.
