Event Registration/Technology Project Manager

The Technology, Innovation and Customer Experience team at GSMA is responsible for delivering technical and operational excellence for attendees and exhibitors at our global events. Our focus is on registration systems, event apps, and onsite delivery, ensuring seamless access to our events.
About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Event Registration/Technology Project Manager to join our team. As a key member, you will support our existing teams in the full life cycle of our events, from pre-event planning to onsite delivery. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate and schedule project meetings, manage project milestones, and ensure timely delivery of projects.
Key Responsibilities- Project Management: Coordinate project meetings, manage project milestones, and ensure timely delivery of projects.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Registration System Configuration: Configure and set up event registration systems, including pass configuration and email/system content.
- User Acceptance Testing: Lead UAT, creating test plans and working with internal stakeholders to ensure systems are signed off against agreed scope of work.
- Event Technology Evolution: Contribute to the evolution of our event technology platform by gathering business requirements, documenting process flows, and making recommendations for improvements.
- Registration Logistical Planning: Dimensioning onsite services, collateral design and ordering, signage planning, onsite scanning, and staff training.
- Process Handling: Create and maintain process handling documents for onsite processes and FAQs.
- Analytical Support: Provide analytical support through reporting and data insights.
- Budgeting: Manage budgets for assigned responsibilities.
- Contribution to Roadmap and Planning Meetings: Contribute to roadmap and planning meetings to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Demonstrable experience in event registration with technical and operational responsibilities.
- International event, conference, or trade show experience as an organiser.
- Experience configuring and delivering event technology, including registration systems, virtual event platforms, and event apps.
- Operational/logistical event planning experience, including build, throughput analysis, signage, temporary staff scheduling, and collateral design.
- Supplier management experience.
- Project Management skills, ideally with a recognised qualification.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex processes to non-event or technical colleagues.
- Awareness of data privacy, GDPR, and information security principles.
- Experience with tools such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, data flow/modelling tools, and project management tools.
- Ability to work under pressure, upholding excellent attention to detail, and a self-starter attitude to work.
- Willingness to travel internationally, sometimes for extended periods.
