Job Title: Sous ChefWe are seeking a skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at The Ullswater Inn. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in the production, monitoring, and maintenance of consistent food standards and quality across all areas.
- Take charge of the day-to-day running of the kitchen service in the absence of the Head Chef.
- Order and manage inventory, using nominated suppliers.
- Achieve budgeted costs for food, wastage, and wages.
- Develop and implement menus.
- Manage stock control and kitchen cleanliness.
- Lead and train the kitchen team.
- Flair and enthusiasm for cooking with fresh, quality ingredients.
- Ability to work under pressure, calmly and efficiently, to meet deadlines.
- Previous experience in managing a kitchen team.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with kitchen, front-of-house staff, and management.
- Positive approach to menu planning and costing.
- Intermediate food hygiene certificate.
- Stocktaking and HACCP experience.
