Commercial Delivery Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Delivery Manager to join our team at Porterbrook Leasing Company Limited. As a key member of our Investment Team, you will play a critical role in managing the interface process of delivering lease, customer, or strategic requirements into the appropriate areas of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities- Take ownership of specific lease, customer or strategic requirements and manage the handover process from the Investment Team to other business functions, ensuring that Investment Team resource is used most effectively and that oversight is retained throughout the delivery phase.
- Partake in regular reviews of fleets, leases and fleet strategies to identify opportunities to maximise revenue through additional rental funded upgrades.
- Where necessary, and in collaboration with the Sustainability Team and supply chain partners, deliver feasibility studies and business cases to support future opportunities for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide engineering and project support to the Senior Commercial Delivery Manager as required, with a particular focus on Freight Team activities.
- Support the wider Investment Team with technical aspects of new build bidding and proposals; and
- Provide additional resource and support to Commercial Engineering as and when required to ensure that the pricing process for re-leasing opportunities can be completed in a timely manner.
- Provide regular and robust updates to the Senior Commercial Delivery Manager, as well as in regular internal forums as required; and
- Attend interface meetings with other business functions where a technical or project presence is required, such as Level 3 meetings, deliverability assessments, new build opportunity tracking etc.
- Support colleagues with the maintenance of strategic relationships with key stakeholders where appropriate.
- Maintain an up to date understanding of supply chain capabilities, capacity and pricing to support feasibility and bidding; and
- Support delivery teams with customer engagement and external leadership.
- General requirements are for a Chartered Engineer, or someone working towards Chartered status, with extensive Traction and Rolling Stock experience. Alternatively, someone with a detailed knowledge of the rail industry with appropriate traction and rolling stock experience.
- Professional qualifications in a relevant discipline such as mechanical or electrical engineering.
- Knowledge Engineering knowledge, experience, or qualifications in a relevant discipline.
- Knowledge and understanding of vehicle maintenance and overhaul requirements.
- Awareness of safety cases, certification issues, railway risks, group standards and industry legislation.
- Ability to understand and comment upon engineering instructions and drawings.
- Project management expertise.
- Appreciation of financial principles.
- Knowledge of leasing principles and types will be seen as a benefit; and
- Experience in the rail industry, rail franchising and rolling stock will be a benefit but is not essential.
