Logistics Operations Supervisor

Menzies Distribution Limited is seeking a skilled Logistics Operations Supervisor to enhance our dynamic team. The successful candidate will oversee the distribution of tasks while ensuring compliance with transport regulations, health and safety standards, and exceptional customer service.

Key Information:

  • Salary: £33,000.00 Per Annum
  • Location: LE67 1TT
  • Shift Pattern: Rotating 4 On/4 Off Days
  • Working Hours: 06:00-18:00
  • Payment: Monthly
  • Parking: Onsite

Responsibilities of the Logistics Operations Supervisor:

  • Ensure all deliveries are executed according to the plan established by the Regional Planning Centre.
  • Manage and implement both Day and Night Plans effectively.
  • Conduct pre-briefings with drivers to clarify daily tasks and expectations.
  • Perform de-briefings with drivers to confirm completion of tasks and address any challenges encountered.
  • Resolve issues as they arise during shifts and adjust plans accordingly to maintain customer service standards.
  • Minimize disruptions to vehicle earnings to achieve budgeted targets.
  • Weekend work may be necessary occasionally to cover absences.
  • Complete face-to-face handovers at the beginning and end of shifts.
  • Communicate emerging issues to relevant stakeholders promptly.
  • Ensure adherence to transport compliance regulations.
  • Maintain compliance with the Transport Management System (TMS).
  • Conduct investigations and return-to-work interviews as required.
  • Create TMS loads and allocate resources within the TMS.
  • Source local agency drivers and subcontractors as needed.
  • Compile and present key performance indicator (KPI) reports for clients.
  • Ensure accurate trailer inspections are conducted and documented.
  • Verify that all loads meet safety standards.
  • Perform all other transport office-related duties, including proof of delivery (POD) control and scanning.

Qualifications for the Logistics Operations Supervisor:

  • Must have the 'Right To Work' in the UK.
  • Experience in a fast-paced transport office environment.
  • Knowledge of drivers' hours, tachograph regulations, and working time directives.
  • Understanding of continuous improvement principles.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Good educational background.
  • Proficient in IT.
  • Awareness of health and safety regulations.
  • Commercial acumen.
  • Familiarity with transport systems.
