An exceptional opportunity has emerged within the Inpatient Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust, part of Forward Thinking Birmingham.
We seek a proficient and seasoned nurse to enhance our nursing leadership as an Inpatient CAMHS Nursing Leader, collaborating with our current leadership team to propel our ambitious service forward. Our facilities have undergone extensive renovations to meet the demands of contemporary inpatient psychiatric care.
The ideal candidate will engage closely with Ward Managers, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Clinical Nurse Educators, and ward teams to guarantee patient safety and deliver superior care while participating in the strategic evolution of the service.
This leader will maintain a strong presence, being accessible to patients, families, staff, and visitors, with a focus on enhancing the fundamental aspects of care for children and adolescents. Key responsibilities will include elevating clinical care standards, demonstrating best practices, overseeing infection control, leading patient safety initiatives, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide clinical and professional guidance to the Head of Nursing Tier 4 CAMHS, supporting the implementation of local and national nursing objectives. This role involves:
- Delivering professional nursing leadership through a prominent clinical presence within the service to enhance nursing practices and clinical standards.
- Leading the development of effective care pathways that prioritize patient safety and meet statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Offering clinical leadership and support to nursing staff to uphold clinical and non-clinical care standards, including the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensuring compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards and striving to exceed them.
- Exhibiting a proactive approach to safe care and risk management to maintain high standards.
- Providing leadership to senior nursing staff to deliver a high-quality, safe, and efficient service within budgetary constraints, while undertaking specific service improvement projects.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- NMC Registered Nurse (Mental Health), NMC Registered Nurse (Learning Disability), or NMC Registered Nurse (Children).
- Experience in a clinical lead role within an inpatient mental health setting at band 7 level.
- Proven ability to lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in minimizing clinical risks and reducing restrictive practices.
- Demonstrated clinical leadership capabilities.
- Experience in providing individualized and culturally sensitive care.
Desirable:
- Master's or Level 7 Healthcare Qualification.
- Leadership and Management Qualification.
- Specialist Area Training.
- Relevant teaching or assessing qualification.
