About the Role

Climax Studios is a leading creative force in independent games development, renowned for its outstanding portfolio of top-published titles. Our state-of-the-art studio in the heart of Liverpool's Albert Dock offers an exciting and inspiring work environment.

We are seeking an experienced and multi-talented Lead Environment Artist to join our team. This role requires the ability to conceive, create, and lead the team in producing innovative artistic visuals for AAA titles. Proven experience in generating diverse styles, technical expertise with current-gen technology, and illustration skills are highly beneficial.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the environment art team in creating high-quality, visually stunning assets for AAA titles.
  • Develop and implement solid art production pathways to ensure efficient and effective team workflow.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to deliver innovative and engaging game experiences.
  • Manage deadlines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members to help them grow and develop their skills.
Requirements
  • At least 4+ years of experience in console development with at least 2 shipped titles and one as a Lead Artist.
  • Effective visual and verbal communication skills when directing internal or external teams or individuals.
  • Excellent resource management and judgement while assigning artists of varying skill sets to numerous projects.
  • Comfortable liaising with and presenting to clients in an authoritative and professional manner.
  • A self-motivated team leader who is outgoing, friendly, gregarious, with attention to detail and a passion for delivering the best possible game experience.
  • Autonomous in managing deadlines and budgets, with excellent time management skills.
  • Experience of managing art teams effectively and in a timely fashion.
  • 2-3 years experience developing and implementing solid art production pathways.
  • The ability to find creative solutions when troubleshooting and assessing risks.
  • A good understanding of cutting-edge artistic techniques and tools and the ability to implement them into current practical practices.
