Job Title: Risk Data Governance Associate

We are seeking a highly skilled Risk Data Governance Associate to join our team in Birmingham. As a key member of our Risk Division, you will play a critical role in managing data risk and ensuring the firm adheres to data governance strategies.

About the Role:

As a Risk Data Governance Associate, you will be responsible for:

  • Partnering with users and technology teams to expand and improve strategic data architecture
  • Ensuring the division adheres to firmwide data governance strategies and principles of BCBS 239 and other relevant data regulations
  • Driving adoption of the firmwide data governance framework in the division
  • Managing initiatives to improve data governance quality
  • Documenting data lineage from source to reporting and ensuring effective controls are in place
  • Working with data consumers and producers to negotiate ownership of data
  • Developing communication and reference materials to enable data governance policy and standard implementation
  • Defining and creating data validation controls
  • Providing data quality analytics to drive remediation efforts
  • Partnering with users to provide feedback on strategic tooling for business use cases
About You:

We are looking for a highly organized and proactive individual with excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills. You should have a strong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and organizational skills to manage a constantly evolving inflow of projects and priorities.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3-5 years' relevant experience
  • Project management skills
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
  • Extremely proactive and works well in a collaborative environment
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical thinking
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present results highlighting the broader strategic impact
  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills and ability to work effectively with others
  • Strong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and organizational skills - ability to manage a constantly evolving inflow of projects and priorities
  • Team player - ability to maintain mutual support within a high-profile team
  • Relationship management: effectively partner with divisions across the firm with a focus on end-client value
  • Control-oriented
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience of data governance or data management
  • Prior experience in financial services industry in Regulatory Reporting
  • Ideally has a good understanding of data usage in one or more business areas
