About the Role

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Social Worker to join our Emergency Duty Team (EDT) at Cardiff County Council. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality social work services to vulnerable adults and children in crisis situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert social work services to individuals and families in crisis, including child protection and mental health assessments.
  • Work collaboratively with other agencies, such as the Police and Health professionals, to achieve optimum outcomes.
  • Develop and implement effective risk assessments and plans to ensure the safety and well-being of service users.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to junior staff members and contribute to the development of the EDT team.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the effective delivery of social work services.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with extensive experience of safeguarding in both adults and children.
  • Excellent assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to make sound risk assessments and decisions in a crisis.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable adults and children, including those with complex needs.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with service users, colleagues, and other professional bodies.
  • Registration with Social Care Wales and Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) status.
