About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Principal Social Worker to join our team at Cardiff County Council. As a key member of our social work team, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance and support to colleagues working with children and families involved in care proceedings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of complex care proceedings cases, providing expert analysis and recommendations to inform decision-making.
  • Develop and implement effective care plans, working closely with children, families, and other professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Provide training and support to colleagues on best practice in care proceedings, including the use of the DOH Framework of assessment and the NSPCC Reunification framework.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to care proceedings, ensuring they are evidence-based and effective.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting children and families.
Requirements
  • Significant experience of working with children and families involved in care proceedings, with a strong understanding of the relevant legislation and policies.
  • Excellent assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise recommendations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, children, and families.
  • Ability to work under pressure, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the DOH Framework of assessment and the NSPCC Reunification framework, with experience of using these tools in practice.
