About the Role:

The McDonald's Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Communications Officer to join its Impact (Communications) team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Shape ESG Strategy: Help develop and shape the organisation's work in the ESG space, collaborating with internal stakeholders and managing and developing the organisation's ESG governance process.
  • ESG Storytelling: Identify storytelling opportunities in the ESG space, helping to shape content and the external narrative.
  • Project Management: Project manage ESG-related projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Communications Alignment: Drive alignment and integration across communications activity for key programmes and partnerships, developing a comms plan and governance framework, engaging all relevant agencies, setting and delivering against KPIs, and managing communication with internal stakeholders.
  • Partnership Management: Support the Senior Manager, ESG & Strategic Partnerships on the day-to-day contact with corporate partnerships, developing and managing charitable and commercial relationships to drive brand trust.
  • Community Engagement: Partner with other departments, teams, and organisations to deliver our Plan for Change commitments and drive the Community programmes.
  • PR and Communications: Create community PR campaigns and programmes across traditional media, influencer marketing, social media, and owned content.
  • Narrative Development: Develop, drive, and implement consistent, dynamic narrative and tone of voice for communications.
  • Press Office Support: Provide out-of-hours Press Office support.

About the Team:

The Senior Communications Officer will be part of the wider department, working closely with the VP of Communications and Corporate Affairs, Heads of Internal Comms, Corporate Affairs, and Public Affairs, and Senior Strategic Communications Manager. They will also work with internal audiences, including Legal, Finance, Supply Chain, People, Marketing, Franchising, and Franchisees, as well as external audiences, including media, consumers, agencies/consultants, partners, charities, and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • ESG Experience: Experience working on ESG or sustainability-related projects.
  • ESG Knowledge: Familiarity with ESG reporting standards, environmental policies, social responsibility initiatives, and governance practices.
  • Communications Skills: Ability to develop and implement strategic communications plans that align with business goals and ESG objectives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Skills in engaging stakeholders with diverse backgrounds, including internal teams, external partners, and the public.
  • Partnership Building: Understanding of best practices and strategies for building and sustaining successful partnerships.
  • Programme Management: Programme and project management experience.
  • Organisational Skills: Strong organisational skills and ability to lead across a number of functions and within the department.
  • Adaptability: The ability to synthesize information quickly, adapt quickly and easily to new or changing conditions, and demonstrate a genuine desire and capacity to understand and relate to others.
  • Desire to Learn: A desire to learn and grow with the organisation.
