Job Title: Quality Engineering Architect

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Engineering Architect to join our team at easyJet. As a Quality Engineering Architect, you will play a key role in driving the modernisation of our test strategy and implementing quality engineering practices across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with the QE Manager to drive the modernisation of our test strategy and implement quality engineering practices.
  2. Develop and implement holistic quality engineering approaches to solutions, leveraging technology, people, and process.
  3. Support solution architects and other technical architects in solution design, ensuring test platforms and applications are in place to support technical solutions.
  4. Gain in-depth understanding of solution design and develop approaches to test functional and non-functional requirements.
  5. Implement test strategies across the programme at different stages of the development lifecycle, including facilitating the right test environments based on programme requirements.
  6. Propose the right tools and frameworks based on requirements, collaborating with other QE Architects, Automation SMEs, and stakeholders.
  7. Support the team in designing test automation frameworks and solutions, adhering to industry and easyJet standards and best practices.
  8. Advocate and practice building quality into every step of the product development process, assessing quality of requirements, design, and ensuring test coverage.
  9. Work closely with Release Engineering to ensure Test Environments are set up correctly for testing.

Requirements:

  1. Extensive experience in testing, quality engineering, and test automation solution design.
  2. Understanding and working within the limitations of varied SDLCs (Agile and traditional development methodologies) in the context of SaaS-based and/or in-house greenfield development.
  3. Ability to articulate and demonstrate the value of good quality, influence stakeholders, and advocate for quality engineering and test automation.
  4. Experience proposing and implementing solutions leveraging modern test automation technologies, such as Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, TestComplete, RestAssured, JMeter, Postman, and languages like Java, JavaScript, SQL, Python, Shell, and so on.
  5. Experience and in-depth understanding of modern development methodologies and technologies, such as cloud platforms and architecture, modern CI and deployment tools like GitHub actions, Azure DevOps, Circle CI, Octopus deploy, or similar.
  6. Identify metrics contributing to improving overall project/product quality and set up related dashboards to measure KPIs.
  7. Establish an effective test automation reporting process, including test automation execution optimisations through test observability.
  8. Good experience/understanding of non-functional requirements and designing relevant solutions for performance, data, security, and usability.
  9. Lead discovery initiatives to address QE optimisation opportunities, using tools and processes, and design and implement relevant POCs.
  10. Mentor and coach wider teams on testing and quality engineering best practices, influencing and bringing agility in ways of working.
  11. Ensure quality of deliverables from all supplier partners by implementing governance protocols, as part of an effective review process.
  12. Up-to-date testing industry knowledge and ability to bring new ways of working in-house to improve output.
  13. Contribute to QE practice level strategic initiatives, defining best practices and standards, as part of the QE transformation group.
  14. Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications:

  1. ISTQB Software Testing Foundation Certificate.
  2. Agile certifications (Certified Scrum Master/Product Owner, SAFe).
  3. Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP).
  4. Experience of cloud architectures and technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure etc.) and associated certifications.
  5. Good experience in proposal development, presentation, and influential skills.
  6. Good understanding of AI use cases in Quality engineering and ways to implement them.
