Clinical Nurse Specialist in Rheumatology

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have extensive clinical post-registration experience at a Band 5 level and be working in a Band 6 role.
Main Responsibilities- Develop and implement individualized pain management plans for patients with complex healthcare needs.
- Manage a caseload of patients, working collaboratively with the Pain Team to ensure accurate documentation of pain management plans in patient medical records.
- Provide pain management advice and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to improve pain management for patients.
- Educate clinical staff on the principles of effective pain management and train them in the safe and effective use of advanced pain management techniques.
- Contribute to multi-professional approaches to pain management for patients referred to the pain service.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their carers, taking into account the sensitive and complex nature of their pain management needs.
- Contribute to the development of pain service policies and participate in the validation and implementation of pain service guidelines and policies.
- Participate in the development of strategies to enhance the standard of pain management within the Trust, ensuring equity of access to the service.
- Participate in the provision of nurse-led outpatient pain clinics and interventions.
- Seek feedback from service users to evaluate their experience of the current service and suggest improvements.
- RN Level 1 (Adult nurse)
- Relevant 1st degree or working towards
- Mentorship or teaching and assessing qualification
- University Module or EFIC module in pain management, or relevant speciality: Palliative Care, Rehabilitation, Rheumatology
- Clinical experience at Band 6 level
- Extensive post registration clinical nursing experience at Band 5
- Recent post registration experience in an acute setting, dealing with adult patients who have epidural/regional/PCA infusions
- Evidence of recent continuing professional development (excludes mandatory training)
- Understanding of the role of a Clinical Nurse Specialist
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Able to work under pressure
- Ability to manage competing issues that are time sensitive
- Effective teaching skills (informal and formal)
- Ability to problem solve
- Willingness to seek advice when appropriate
- Able to integrate Trust values into their practice
