Job Title: Principal Computational Genetics Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Computational Genetics Scientist to join our Genetics group at Next-Link. The successful candidate will have a strong background in computational genetics and experience in analyzing and using genetic data generated through multiple platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and apply leading-edge analytics and approaches to answer diverse questions in genetics.
  • Support the analytical workload within the group and lead projects with an outward-facing role.
  • Collaborate with colleagues from other functions to deliver against deadlines.
  • Communicate efficiently the outcomes of analytical work to diverse audiences.
Requirements:
  • Direct experience of analyzing and using genetic data generated through multiple platforms and associated analytical approaches.
  • Expert knowledge of statistics with specific experience in and application of statistical genetics.
  • Advanced computational skills, including proficiency in using R, Python, SQL, and bash, and experience of working in a cloud environment.
  • Ability to interpret and present data in the context of the question under study.
  • Good knowledge of the drug discovery process and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience of the application of genetics and genetic approaches to drug discovery and development.
  • Experience of using and querying population databases.
  • Expertise in methods for functional interpretation of genomics data, such as variant and gene pathway mapping and enrichment.
  • Ability to understand and integrate data from other sources, such as transcriptomics and proteomics.
  • Expertise in the application of machine learning or artificial intelligence approaches.
