About the Role

Thales is seeking an experienced Engineering Delivery Manager to join our team in the Optronics and Missile Electronics (OME) division. As an Engineering Delivery Manager, you will play a critical role in the delivery of engineering development projects, working closely with the Programme Director, Programme Managers, and the wider engineering team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead High-Performing Teams: Manage and lead high-performing, multi-discipline engineering teams to generate engineering solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Define Engineering Delivery Strategy: Define the engineering delivery strategy and resource profile based on engineering estimates to ensure the delivery of projects.
  • Manage Interfaces: Manage interfaces with the overall delivery strategy for the wider programme.
  • Organise and Plan: Work with the Programme Manager to define the organisation and work breakdown required to deliver to customer needs.
  • Define Work Packages: Define the engineering team's work packages in terms of resources required, budgets assigned to each task, risks, and assumptions on these and the timescales to deliver within.
  • Plan and Prioritise: Plan and prioritise activities required to deliver the solution to the contract schedule, costs, and quality.
  • Manage Engineering Team: Day-to-day management of the engineering team's activities, ensuring proactive management of issues, opportunities, and risks.
  • Manage and Report: Manage and report on the engineering efficiency for the project.
  • Identify Re-Use Opportunities: Identify re-use opportunities across the project.
  • People Management: Act as the People Manager for the engineering team on the project and provide feedback into the people manager reviews with the functional discipline leads.
Requirements
  • Strong Engineering Background: A strong background in engineering with experience in successfully defining and leading the delivery of multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
  • Customer Focus: Highly customer-focused with excellent communication skills.
  • Agility and Complexity Management: Ability to work in a fast-moving environment with multiple parallel objectives.
  • Knowledge and Experience: Knowledge and experience of naval products would be beneficial to this role.
  • Leadership Behaviours: Ability to demonstrate the following leadership behaviours aligned to the Thales Leadership Behavioural Model: acting with agility, dealing with multiple strands of complexity, engaging with stakeholders, creating a competitive advantage, and supporting the development of others.
