Assystem is a leading international company accelerating the energy transition worldwide. We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Head of Engineering and Safety to lead our engineering, safety case, and requirements teams in a major Defence infrastructure programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Strategy: Provide strategic direction and inspire engineering, safety case, and requirements teams to deliver high-quality results.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure all deliverables meet Design Authority and regulatory standards, and maintain compliance with the Programme Safety Engineering Management Plan.
  • Integration and Collaboration: Oversee the delivery of system requirements, engineering, and safety case activities for floating dock and shoreside infrastructure, and ensure robust representation in commercial delivery arrangements.
  • Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary interface with the Design Authority, Site Operations, and Regulators, and foster a cohesive and integrated approach within multi-disciplined teams.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Foster a culture of innovation and excellence, and develop and implement strategies to improve team performance and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Regulatory Experience: Familiarity with dealing with regulators in high-consequence environments, ideally nuclear.
  • Proven Leadership: Successful recent experience leading multi-disciplined teams in producing engineering designs, justifications, and safety cases for major infrastructure or complex engineering programmes.
  • Diverse Experience: Extensive senior engineering leadership experience across multiple major infrastructure programmes or complex multi-disciplined engineering projects, preferably in regulated environments.
  • Professional Credentials: Chartered Engineer with full membership in a recognized engineering institution.
  • Line Management: Experience managing engineering staff at the chief engineer level.
