Job Summary:

MDE Group UK is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Commercial Planning to lead and coordinate the planning aspects of large-scale solar and energy storage projects.

The Role:

As the Head of Commercial Planning, you will be responsible for driving the planning process for our grid-connected solar and energy storage projects. You will collaborate with both in-house and external teams, guiding projects from early stages through to 'ready-to-build' (RTB) status.

  • Lead and manage all planning aspects of solar and energy storage projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Coordinate with external consultants and manage community engagement to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Act as the main contact, liaising with property, planning, grid, technical, legal, and commercial teams to secure necessary approvals.
  • Develop and implement project plans, ensuring clearly defined timelines and milestones.
  • Monitor project budgets and report on progress, risks, and mitigation to ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring project success.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including property developers, local authorities, and community groups.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices, applying knowledge to improve project outcomes.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in a planning-related discipline, with eligibility for membership of an accredited professional institute (MRTPI or equivalent).
  • Strong ability to liaise with internal and external teams, securing necessary approvals for RTB projects.
  • Proven experience in identifying obstacles and influencing key decisions to keep projects on schedule.
  • Effective resource management skills to deliver key project outcomes.
  • Possesses a full UK driving licence and is willing to travel frequently for site visits and meetings.
