Job Summary

Bechtel is seeking a highly experienced professional to fill the role of Area Superintendent. This position will be responsible for overseeing the organization and direction of construction and related activities within assigned areas of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure assigned jobsite operations are in compliance with design/specifications, completion on schedule, within budget, and to required safety and quality standards.
  • Establish, coordinate, and implement construction schedules, craft professional deployment, and material and equipment requirements.
  • Control jobsite expenditures in assigned areas within budget.
  • Supervise personnel in assigned areas of responsibility, ensuring performance evaluations are conducted and counseling programs are maintained.
  • Administer assigned area(s) contractual activities, participating in contracts and subcontracts technical bid evaluations.
  • Plan and implement procedures to ensure construction operations are continuously adhering to engineering designs, specifications, safety standards, quality standards, schedule, and budget.
  • Coordinate construction operations to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules, maintaining relationships with clients and their representatives as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with Bechtel and local/national regulatory safety codes, requirements, and standards in assigned areas of responsibility, incorporating the Zero Accident Philosophy into all aspects of construction operations.
Requirements
  • A recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, or specialized courses in construction management, and/or prior work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge described above.
  • Minimum 25 years of relevant work experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of all phases of construction operations relating to field activities of engineering disciplines, construction technologies, and jobsite management.
  • Knowledge of Bechtel's Zero Accident Philosophy.
  • Knowledge of the Project ES&H Handbook, the Supervisors ES&H Manual, the Project Safety Management Plan, and the Bechtel Core Processes.
  • Knowledge of the Project Construction Environmental Control Plan.
