Financial Manager

The Commercial Controller is a key member of the Museum's leadership team, responsible for overseeing the financial, personnel, and risk management activities of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage all financial records and reporting, including financial forecasts, budget coordination, and audit processes.
- Oversee the Assistant Controller and HR Manager for personnel and human resource-related issues, including payroll, salary, and fringe benefits plans.
- Develop and implement policies, systems, and procedures for finance and personnel management.
- Manage commercial insurance policies, review contracts, and handle legal matters.
- Analyze and present financial reports in a timely and accurate manner, communicating monthly and annual financial statements to senior management, the Board of Port Wardens, and department leaders.
- Prepare financial forecasts and special grant or donor reporting as needed.
- Coordinate and lead the annual financial audit process with an external audit firm.
- Manage the Museum's commercial insurance policies, including liability, fine arts, marine, building, and workers' compensation.
- Work with legal counsel to manage complaints or incidents and proactively avoid them.
- Oversee the Facilities management team to ensure the building is adequately maintained and meets health and safety standards, and to develop and monitor the capital budget and maintenance needs.
- Coordinate and lead the preparation of the organization's annual Form 990 and BCO-10 filing process with an external audit firm.
- Coordinate and lead the 1099 reporting process, as well as all other necessary tax returns and registrations filed in accordance with the IRS, federal, state, and other regulatory agencies.
