About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate individual to join our team at Great Ormond Street Hospital in the role of Youth Worker - Support Specialist.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting young people and their families through our Children and Young People's Gender Service. The role will involve managing a caseload of young people with complex needs, ensuring an effective care pathway is taken for individual children and young people, and their families.

The Youth Worker - Support Specialist will be responsible for providing patient support to children and young people who are gender questioning, supporting their journey and experience within the service. This will involve creating a welcoming, safe, and secure environment for young people and their families, while also increasing awareness, understanding, and knowledge of the youth team's work and how our services help children and young people during their care journey, both internally and externally.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of diverse backgrounds and perspectives, as well as a commitment to advancing Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion in the workplace. They will also possess a relevant academic or professional qualification, such as a qualified youth worker, registered nurse, qualified social worker, or qualified teacher, with a child protection qualification and a thorough understanding of safeguarding and child protection agendas.

The successful candidate will have substantial demonstrable experience working with children and families, with a minimum of 3 years' experience in operational management and managing organisational change. They will also have a strong ability to negotiate effectively with different disciplines, work across organisational and professional boundaries, and participate in on-call rotas.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements
