Job Summary

Altair Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Senior Application Engineer to join our Aerospace and Defence team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for working with our strategic clients to solve complex problems, create value, and drive business growth through the implementation of our product offerings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Account Managers to develop and execute sales strategies, from initial contact to post-sales phases.
  • Deliver technical content to customers, including presentations, demonstrations, and evaluations, to drive business growth and profitability.
  • Establish and maintain long-term relationships with assigned accounts, aligning Altair solutions with client key business initiatives.
  • Identify areas of opportunity to displace competition, add products, add users, and expand usage globally.
  • Collaborate with the Altair product development teams to understand customer requirements and influence product roadmap.
  • Contribute to account-based marketing strategies and drive technology deployment and adoption.
  • Use technical product knowledge to identify customer pain points, assess technical needs, and understand customer infrastructure and engineering workflows.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • UK citizen (including UK passport).
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience working in an aerospace OEM or Tier 1 Aerospace Supplier.
  • Experience using commercial CAE tools within an engineering environment.
  • Experience using Altair HyperWorks, OptiStruct, RADIOSS, or other CAE simulation software involving real-world, industry-level applications.
  • Familiarity with aerospace processes and standards (e.g., regulations, MMPDS).
  • Logical problem-solving approach and ability to clearly communicate solutions to customers.
Preferred Requirements
  • Diverse use of CAE tools across multiple disciplines.
  • Experience with programming languages (TCL/Python or similar).
  • FEA-based optimisation techniques applied to composite and metallic structures.
  • Experience working in a software company in a pre-sales role.
