Job Summary

Altair Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Senior Application Engineer to join our team in Leamington Spa. As a key member of our Aerospace and Defence team, you will be responsible for working with our strategic clients to solve complex problems, create value, and drive business growth through the implementation of our product offerings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Account Managers to develop and execute sales strategies, from initial contact to post-sales phases.
  • Deliver technical content to customers, including presentations, demonstrations, and evaluations, to drive long-term and short-term opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain long-term relationships with assigned accounts, aligning Altair solutions with clients' key business initiatives.
  • Identify areas of opportunity to displace competition, add products, add users, and expand usage globally.
  • Collaborate with the Altair product development team to understand customer requirements and influence product roadmap.
  • Contribute to account-based marketing strategies and drive technology deployment and adoption.
  • Use technical product knowledge to identify customer pain points, assess technical needs, and understand current infrastructure and engineering workflows.
  • Create and deliver compelling demonstrations of Altair's solutions to add value to customers' businesses.
  • Provide customers with training on Altair's products, as needed.
  • Stay current with the latest software releases and work with the software team to guide future product development.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • UK citizenship (including a UK passport).
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience working in an aerospace OEM or Tier 1 Aerospace Supplier.
  • Experience using commercial CAE tools within an engineering environment.
  • Experience using Altair HyperWorks, OptiStruct, RADIOSS, or other CAE simulation software involving real-world, industry-level applications.
  • Familiarity with aerospace processes and standards (e.g., regulations, MMPDS).
  • Logical problem-solving approach and ability to clearly communicate solutions to customers.
  • Familiarity with numerical solution techniques used in FEA.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites.
Preferred Requirements
  • Diverse use of CAE tools across multiple disciplines.
  • Experience with programming languages (TCL/Python or similar).
  • FEA-based optimisation techniques applied to composite and metallic structures.
  • Experience working in a software company in a pre-sales role.
