Job Overview:


The Electrical Supervisor is essential in managing and coordinating the efforts of a team of electricians on construction projects.

This position entails meticulous planning of tasks, ensuring adherence to safety and quality regulations, and fostering the development of the workforce through continuous training and skill enhancement.

The ideal candidate will exhibit strong leadership capabilities, possess a comprehensive understanding of electrical systems, and hold relevant certifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Work Planning and Coordination:
Organize and schedule electrical work activities ahead of time to facilitate smooth project execution.

Delegate tasks to electricians based on project needs, skill levels, and availability.

Collaborate with other site supervisors and the Electrical Superintendent to synchronize electrical work with the overall project timeline.

Ensure the availability of all necessary materials, tools, and equipment for the team to perform their duties efficiently.

Team Management:
Lead and supervise a team of electricians, providing clear guidance, support, and encouragement.

Conduct daily briefings to relay project objectives, safety protocols, and any modifications to the work plan.

Evaluate the performance of electricians, offering feedback, direction, and additional training as needed.

Address any on-site challenges or disputes promptly to maintain a productive and positive work atmosphere.

Safety and Compliance:


Ensure that all electrical installations adhere to applicable health and safety regulations, company policies, and the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.

Conduct regular safety assessments and toolbox discussions to reinforce safe working practices.

Promote a robust safety culture on-site, ensuring all team members comply with safety protocols.

Report and address any safety issues or incidents immediately to the Electrical Superintendent.

Inspection and Testing:
Perform inspection and testing of electrical installations in line with the 2391 Inspection and Testing certification.

Ensure all electrical work meets the necessary standards and specifications prior to approval.

Identify any faults or issues during testing and implement corrective measures to resolve them.

Maintain precise records of all inspections, tests, and certifications.

Quality Control:
Guarantee that all electrical work is executed to the highest quality standards.

Conduct regular evaluations of work performed by electricians to ensure compliance with project specifications.

Address any quality concerns promptly, coordinating with the Electrical Superintendent as necessary.

Implement and oversee quality control measures to ensure consistency throughout the project.

Workforce Development:
Identify training and development needs within the team and organize relevant training sessions.

Mentor and support the professional advancement of electricians, fostering a culture of continuous learning.

Encourage team members to remain informed about industry best practices, regulations, and emerging technologies.

Collaborate with the Electrical Superintendent to create career progression opportunities for the electrical workforce.

Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare and submit daily or weekly progress reports to the Electrical Superintendent, highlighting key accomplishments and any challenges encountered.

Maintain accurate records of work activities, including timesheets, material usage, and inspection/test results.

Assist in the preparation of risk assessments, method statements, and other essential documentation.

Qualifications:
NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.

18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.

2391 Inspection and Testing certification (or equivalent).

ECS Gold Card holder.

IPAF 3a/3b certification.

SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme).

Strong IT skills, particularly in SharePoint and Excel.

First Aid at Work certification.

Minimum of 3 years experience in a supervisory role within the electrical construction industry.

Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and standards.

Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable:
SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)

Experience with modern construction management software.

Working Conditions:
The role is primarily site-based with occasional visits to various project locations.

Flexibility in working hours may be required to meet project deadlines.

Salary:
£35.29ph PAYE
