Temporary Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled Housing Safety Enforcement Officer to join our team on a temporary basis. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of residents in private sector rented accommodation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct proactive inspections of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) to identify disrepair and non-compliance with local and statutory requirements.
- Research ownership and responsibility of premises and arrange inspections to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
- Collaborate with multi-agency partners to safeguard residents and ensure they are afforded safe accommodation.
- Prepare paperwork for civil penalty offences and prosecutions, and provide expert witness evidence in court.
- Work with key partners to ensure timely progression of caseloads and effective decision-making.
Requirements:
- HNC in construction, degree in Environmental Health or related subject, and at least 2 years' experience in Private Sector Housing regulation.
- Certificate of competency in application of the HHSRS regime.
- Knowledge of the Housing Act 2004, the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS), and local authorities' regulatory and enforcement powers.
