About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our Contracts and Haulage Team at Leicestershire County Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for working within our Waste Transfer Sites, loading waste onto bulk carriers, and transporting waste materials from Leicestershire County Council's Recycling and Household Waste Sites to disposal locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with loading of bulk vehicles at the Bardon Waste Transfer Site
  • Complete all uplifts and other jobs on any given day in an efficient and effective manner
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects
  • Ensure tachographs are signed for and returned monthly
  • Load bulk vehicles using a JCB Telehandler or shovel
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with council colleagues and external contractors
Requirements
  • HGV licence and Driver CPC
  • Good organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload effectively
  • Full valid driving license including Business Insurance
  • Understanding of and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary, plus Market Premia of £1.44 per hour, and a retention bonus of £100 per month after completing the probation period. We also offer flexible working arrangements and a supportive work environment.
